They also have abilities which provide protection to the whole party and enable the group to run faster. The only support that’s been a stalwart of META groups is the Barb, and that’s quite simply due to the unparalleled ability to scout forward rapidly, gather mobs back to a static point (Ancient Spear / Rage Flip) and Ground Stomp / Wrenching Smash to pixel-pull them into a very, very tight group. The loss of the Monk’s healing was more than offset by the buffs / debuffs the DH provided, so the Monk lost their META slot. However, changes were made to certain Demon Hunter abilities and items which meant that they could apply debuffs to mobs which meant they took a lot more damage from all the party’s heroes. Then we had the support Monk, again because of the healing abilities / mantras, and an ability to group mobs up and keep them tightly packed. Overnight the Crusader was out of the META. Then Blizzard changed Consecration so the healing bonus no longer stacked. Three Consecrations, triple the healing, and so on. if the Crusader put down two Consecrations, and you were stood in the intersection of them, you’d get double the healing. The Consecration ability used to overlap and stack, i.e. In the long, long ago, of the very early seasons, Crusaders were taken as a tank / support, because of their Consecration ability which provides a circle of healing for anyone stood in it, and Condemn / Vacuum to gather mobs. Are the classes with heals and buffs not the best at support?
